Freethinkers For Liberty

Freethinkers for Liberty is an organization formed in 2009 by David Richards. a long-time freethinker, humanist, skeptic, and above all an American patriot and supporter of the US Constitution, including ALL the 10 amendments constituting the Bill of Rights. Over many years he observed a trend in the humanist/freethinker community toward Statism, in the form of Liberalism and even Socialist values that aren’t consistent with the clear intentions of the founders of the US, as made clear in the Constitution and its amendments.

In addition, many of the projects and policies supported by many Freethinkers are not only in defiance of the Constitution, but not sound from the standpoint of fiscal responsibility, or ensuring that the US remains a solvent, stable entity for future generations. To us these concepts, although supported by many humanists and other freethinkers represents a disconnect from rationality, human values, and just plain fairness.

In addition to supporting freethought and humanist values, the FFL advocates a small, limited Federal Government as defined in the US Constitution. In general we are opposed to any “wealth redistribution” schemes, with very limited exceptions. We see no way to reconcile such ideas with the notion of the ownership of private property, which we firmly believe in. We believe that any charitable activities should be private, undertaken voluntarily by individuals and philanthropic organizations, not an activity run by government. We believe in free minds, free markets, and laissez-faire capitalism.

The Freethinkers for Liberty was formed to create a forum for people that support these common values; to meet, to educate ourselves and others, and to expose unfairness and illegality in public activities by the government and others. The FFL is not affiliated with any political party nor does it support candidates for public office. However we honor certain political, economic, and philosophical views, as exemplified by the following people we admire:

The Freethinkers for Liberty is based in Orange County, California. It is the eventual intention of the organization to have regular meetings and other periodic conferences and other events, both in our own region and other areas around the U.S., as we gain sufficient members and supporters to make this feasible.
